ANFF/BASE Lunch Session

Session - Presentations - Boulevard Auditorium
Part 1: Enabling Microneedle Innovation: Prototyping to Imaging at ANFF-Qld
Blurb: The Queensland Node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF-Qld) provides researchers and industry partners with advanced microfabrication capabilities essential for accelerating microneedle (MN) development. This session will showcase how ANFF-Qld enables rapid design validation, precision fabrication, and comprehensive characterisation of microneedle technologies. Through real-world case studies—such as microarray patches, wearable sensing devices, and fast-turnaround prototyping via micro/nano 3D printing—we’ll highlight the value of our integrated infrastructure, including tools like Direct Laser Writer, DRIE, SEM, Confocal, and nano-resolution 3D printers. Whether you're scaling up or testing early concepts, ANFF-Qld is your partner in bringing microneedle innovations to life.
Speaker Name: Dr Juan (Jane) LI

Part 2: Developing mRNA medicines at BASE
Blurb: BASE mRNA facility is a non-for-profit facility that builds mRNA vaccines and therapies. We offer mRNA design, mRNA production, and mRNA formulation in lipid nanoparticles, as well as off-the-shelf reagent mRNAs. The BASE Facility has emerged as the leading national site that supplies the majority of mRNA to Australian scientists, with 1000 mRNA vaccines and therapies produced to date. We have established the manufacturing processes, expertise and equipment needed to provide scientists with access to rapid, affordable, high-quality mRNA for research use. We collaborate extensively with global industry leaders to advance mRNA manufacture and analytics.
